Help Needed.

 

Volunteers needed to help out with Junior Golf Summer Camp on Tues, Wed, Thurs 27th, 28th & 29th July. Junior golfers are the members of tommorrow and it is to our advantage if we can sow the seed of interest in the game of golf at an early age. Other sporting organisations in the town are putting a huge effort in to recruiting youngsters to their clubs and we must do the same to keep our club alive. If we dont put in the effort we can have no complaints about the cost of membership etc.

If you have unused junior golf clubs and golf balls, they will be gladly accepted as we are short on these for practice.

 Congratulations to Dr Ann Moran who landed her richly deserved 1st Major on Sunday when she won the Lady Captains Prize -(Mrs Peggy Tawse) with a 71 Nett. Seamus O Toole also won his 1st Major when he won the Mens Section with a 68 Nett in what what were very difficult scoring conditions. Martin Murphy made it a Garrymore 1 - 2 when he finished 2nd with 69 nett. See full results below.

With immediate effect, for every new adult member you introduce, deduct €50 from your annual subscription. If you have already paid  your subscription this year the club will refund the €50 to you. Congratulations to our Ladies Senior Cup team of Emily McHugh, Sarah Gallagher, Kate Gallagher, Sarah Helly and Kung Fanning who won the Western District Senior Cup in Castlebar on Sunday 16th May for the 7th time (1997,1998,2000,2002,2003,2005,2010). They accounted for Co Sligo, Athenry and Ballinasloe on their way to victory. The deciding match was won by Sarah Gallagher when she chipped in on the 19th. Emily won on the 11th, Sarah Helly won 2 & 1 while Kate lost on the 19th and Kung lost 2 down. Sarah Helly is the current South of Ireland Junior Champion. Its now on to Cork on the 13th August for the All Ireland Finals where they will play Lahinch in the 1/4 final. Well done girls and to Team Captain Mary Walsh.

Practice on the Course

Notice.

In an effort to deal with the growing problem of practice on the course the members decided at the AGM on 27th November 2009 to introduce the following sanctions with immediate effect.

1st Offence = Verbal warning

2nd Offence = Written warning

3rd Offence = 1 Month suspension from the club.

Members who wish to report practice on the course can do so by sending a written account of the incident to the Hon Secretary with details of the date, time and place on the course where the practice took place. It must be signed by 2 persons whose names shall remain confidential. Members are encouraged to use the practice areas provided.

                         Over due Subscriptions 

 

Annual subscriptions are due since 31st October 2009.

Members whose subs are due are now not permitted to enter competitions i.e. weekend or open days or represent the club in the interclub matches. If subs remain unpaid by 1st June the current Green Fee of €25 will apply to play on the course. Please help the club to provide better facilities by paying your sub on time.
